The Light

It was dark, oh so dark,
No light could there be seen.
Then like magic, a light,
A glimmering, as a candle small
Glowed there in the dark
And grew each passing day.
The dark did try to put it out,
But could not do it;
For it was the light of the world
That shone there.
Still it shines and stronger grows
As more and more
The people come to it
And worship God as the source,
The source of light and life.
