Mary

Being a woman these days can be difficult. So many men put you down and most won't listen to what you have to say. And you don't dare even ask questions about anything! We're just here to bear children, preferably boys. But Jesus, He didn't seem to be like most of the men that I know. From my experience, He accepted that we had brains, too, and knew how to use them.

It was such fun, just sitting and talking to Jesus, for He treated me like an equal. I'd listen to what He had to say and ask questions. I'd get so involved that I'd forget the time. Why, once my sister Martha and I had Him over for supper. Jesus and I got to talking and soon, here was Martha complaining that I'd left all the work for her to do. I guess she was right, but He defended me, saying that I'd picked what was better. I don't know about that, but it sure was fun, sitting there, listening to and talking with Jesus. I really don't regret a moment of it. Besides, I made it up to Martha later and made her sit while I did some of the work that was necessary.
