When you're sailing on smooth water
Things couldn't be better and you
Never ever think about stormy weather!
But when the storms blow up
And the winds fill your sails
Hold on to God - you'll survive the gale
And you'll find the storms
Have blown you closer to home!

In the midst of the storms
It seems you're all alone -
that your friends
Have all forsaken you
and you can't go on!
But you've got a friend
that's so very dear,
One who's never far
but always near!
And Jesus will see you
Through your stormy weather!

There's stormy weather ahead,
don't you doubt it.
But when you come through
You'll want to sing and shout it!
Don't let the stormy weather
get you down,
God cares for the children
Wherever we're bound!
And the stormy weather
will help you get,
Yes, the stormy weather
will take you,
Without the stormy weather
You'd never get closer to home!
