Banks of the River

I am going to use material from other people regularly.  The guest this am is Jerry Browning, a writer, composer, musician.  He writes his own poetry to go with his music.   This one is a favorite of mine.  Photo is one I took of the Rock River in Rock Island, IL.

by Jerry Browning

As I walked where He walked on the banks of the river
Where He sat with the telve in the shade,
I can see Jesus there walking slowly beside me
Where they sat and they talked and they prayed.

In the shade of the trees that grow by the river,
Through the branches the wind whispers low.
Like the trees all around draw their life from the river,
So the Lord gives new life to my soul.

Chorus:
River Jordan, if you could only talk, and tell us all the things you've seen -
How the blind saw your waters, how the lame walked your shores,
And how sinners found a way to set them free.

As the sun sinks behind the hills by the river
Turning water to purple and to gold
I can see Jesus walk on the banks of the river
Just the same as He did in the days of old.

Chorus:
